Year 2
Welcome to Year 2
Teachers: Mrs Liddle & Mrs Butler
Welcome to Year 2. We hope you enjoyed the summer break and are looking forward to working with us to support your child with their learning once more.
We cannot stress enough the importance of regular attendance to give the children every opportunity to progress in all areas of the curriculum. Sometimes if they are feeling a little off colour in the morning, this is soon forgotten when they become absorbed in the activities of the day. Please be reassured that we will always contact you if we feel they are too unwell to be in school!
The Year 2 cloakroom is just outside the classroom. P.E. bags containing named shorts and T shirt should be left there and we will remind the children to take them home at the end of each half term. Please encourage your child to come into the classroom independently now they are in Year 2. You are, of course, still welcome to come in and speak with us.
There will be a book just inside the classroom door for you to write any changes to your child’s normal going home arrangements. This information helps us greatly as it avoids any confusion at the end of the day.
It is important that you continue to support your child with their reading and this help is much valued by us. If you would like any suggestions as to how to help reading progress, please ask. The children have a free choice of books to bring home and in school the books they share with us are matched to their level of development. There will be times when these books are sent home as well so that they can share them with you. Book changing days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday, however, book bags must be in school every day please.
Your child will be receiving a “Homework Folder”. This will be brought home on a Friday for homework to be completed at the weekend and it needs to be returned on a Monday. Homework will be kept in this folder throughout the year. At the end of most pieces of homework, there will be 3 statements – I managed on my own, I needed a little help, I found this difficult. Please encourage your child to highlight the appropriate comment as this helps us to monitor their level of understanding. Please be honest!
Please feel free to come and speak with us if you have any queries or concerns.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Liddle (Teacher), Mrs Butler (Teacher) and Mrs W Young (Teaching Assistant)
